BUM RUSH THE CHARTS

So I found this pretty interesting and I will definitely be participating!

"On March 22nd, 2007 we are going to strike fear into the hearts of the music industry and make an independent music artist #1 on iTunes.

Podcasting gets little respect from traditional media. To them we're little more than a joke, than amateurs. What they don't understand is that podcasting is more than just a delivery mechanism - it's a social movement. People are growing sick of the watered-down, cookie-cutter content that networks and record companies expect us to enjoy. We want and deserve more. Big corporate media derives its power by having the
resources to mass market their product in a unified effort, which is why they think they're better than us. On March 22, 2007, we're going to give you a chance to change that.

A bunch of us podcasters started thinking, we can do better. We can match and exceed the reach of big media, corporate media, labels, and the entrenched interests. That's why, on March 22nd, the podcasting community is going to take an indie podsafe music artist to number one on the iTunes singles charts as a demonstration of our reach to Main Street and our purchasing power to Wall Street. The track we've chosen is "Mine Again" by the band Black Lab. A band, mind you, that was not just dropped from not just one, but two major record labels (Geffen and Sony/Epic) and in the process forced them to fight to get their own music back. We picked them because making them number one, even for just one day, will remind the RIAA record labels of what they turned their backs on - and who they ignore at their peril.

What's more, we're going to take it a step beyond that. We've signed up as an affiliate of the iTunes Music Store, and every commission made on the sale of "Mine Again" will be donated to college scholarships, partly because it's a worthy cause, but also partly because college students are among the most misunderstood and underestimated groups of people by big media.

If you believe in the power of new media, on March 22nd, 2007, take 99 cents and 2 minutes of your time to join the revolution and make iTunes "Mine Again". If you're a content producer (blogger, podcaster, etc.), we're asking you to join up with us and help spread the word to your listeners. Nothing would prove the power of new media more than showing corporate media that not only can we exceed their reach and match their purchasing power, but that we can also do it AND make a positive difference in the world. If we can succeed with this small example, then there's no telling what can do next.

For more details, come visit bumrushthecharts.com (bum rush the charts dot com) or send an e-mail to bumrushthecharts@gmail.com if you want to help out. It doesn't matter where you are or who you podcast with, we'd love to have you on board"

XTRAIN

IMG_0088.jpg

I'm now hosting Nightline on ABC since my few second debut..

HA HA HA just kidding.

..but, this Thursday and Friday I did spend in Dallas, Texas filming a show for xTrain called 60 Second Guru.

Now, normally the show would be a tutorial teaching you something in 60 seconds. The topics that I chose were Online Video Editing, MySpace Popularity, Blogging Tips, and Creating Viral Videos. Basically these were shot in the style of videos that most people are used to seeing that Dez and I would typically create. This includes: running around the street doing parkour, dancing on the desk, mock myspace mirror shots, and even falling in random places.

The studio that we shot at was amazing! It's called Splash Media. Here's a video directly from YouTube about xTrain and Splash Media about their partnership:

Splash Media operates one of the most technologically advanced television studios in the world. We combine the best systems available with solid engineering and top-notch graphics. Since its launch in 2005, TSTN has received international acclaim for its content as well as its look, but the most common question asked by visitors is, “Where’s the studio?” TSTN programs are produced by only five or six people in the control room. Even more astounding is the number of crew on the floor in the studio: zero. Computer-guided cameras are all controlled by one person. The studio is a bluescreen room, and virtual reality sets are keyed into the final video feed. Camera moves are monitored by the virtual reality servers, where minute adjustments to the set give the studio depth. The final effect is flawless.

Splash Media reinvents television technology

Moving right along with my media from the filming.. On the topic of "Creating Viral Videos", I mentioned that the "quickest and most painless way to create a viral video, is to make a video blog". Thus, here is my mockery of a typical video post you'd find on YouTube:

Last but not least, here's my version of the SplashMedia tour.

(Most of this footage was filmed 5 minutes before I ran out of the studio to catch my flight)

GROOVR.MOV

Today we shot a quick video for Groovr.  The idea for this is an extremely mini-series/promo set of videos that will involve a handful other people in Pittsburgh.  Whatever you do, I want to film it and incorporate it into this set.  Videos will be from 30 seconds to a minute and a half depending upon what you'll be doing.

If you've been living under a rock or never read a blog entry of mine about Groovr, it's a new text-message-based networking site that allows you to "check-in" to locations that is then published online.  After that, your friends will be able to see what you're doing via the web or text message update.  Check it out for yourself:  http://www.groovr.com

Look for that video tomorrow as well as photos from Macworld (finally).

MACWORLD

I'll be heading to San Francisco tomorrow morning for Macworld 2007. I'm pretty sure if you know me at all, you'll know just how excited I am to be able to attend this year. Steve Jobs?

I believe since I was born, I've been using a Mac. My first was an Apple Lisa. It's almost as though she is a long lost sister of mine.

Anyways, I'd love to ramble on about my life as a Mac user, but alas.. it's 4am (I've backdated so it looks as though I did indeed update on the 7th) and I've yet to actually finish packing. I'll save my Mac flashbacks for another day.

THINGS TO CHECK OUT:
• 2006 Montage created using Jumpcut is on Mommy Pack My Lunch.
• Tons of Groovr updates from my trip. Join the site to follow my travels.
• Add the Mommy Pack My Lunch Myspace comedy site here.

** As a reminder, photo updates will be on Tasty Blog Snack and Vox throughout the next few days!

2006 YAHOO TALENT SHOW

Here's an article that was posted in a Carnegie newspaper about the Yahoo Talent Show.

"Under the screen name "ijustine," the Carnegie resident entered numerous fun and interesting video snippets including juggling a stranger's cell phone outside of Wal-Mart, waiting all night (as 11th in line) to purchase a Play Station 3 (also at Wal-Mart), and arguing with a co-worker about stealing her stylus."

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! Resolutions?! Mine is to update a blog every single day for the next year. Can I do it? Yes.. I can. For the first week or so I will focus on LJ and Vox since they are easiest to update. After that, I'll be switching and hosting one of my own again (you know, like tastyblogsnack.com?). I'll also continue to mirror posts and it will be RSS'd on Facebook.

My goal is to at least do a text update a day, if not a photo or video one. Guess we'll see how it goes.

New Years Eve was great. A bunch of us went to Town Tavern for the night. Tasty snacks and delectable drinkies. I haven't had this much fun on New Years ever! Thanks to all that made it great.

I'm not doing a year end photo wrap up like I did last year because I really am kinda lazy.. BUT, I did create a Jumpcut video with clips from all of our videos this past year! Oh how fun.
